The Lhasa Apso is a native of Tibet, where these dogs were originally kept as indoor guards.  With their intelligence and sharp hearing they were ideally suited to the task.  He is tough in cold weather, and he will cheerfully  walk for miles.  He has an independent nature and is wary of strangers, although very affectionate with his owners.  He makes a delightful family companion.
